What is Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI)?
SIRI or Smart Industry readiness Index comprises a suite of frameworks and tools to help manufacturers – regardless of size and industry to start, scale and sustain their manufacturing transformation. The three main core elements of SIRI are Process, Technology and Organisation.
SIRI is part of the initiative to establish a single standardised framework for manufacturers worldwide to evaluate and benchmark their facilities to start, scale and sustain their IR4.0 transformation. This initiative was a joint effort between World Economic Forum (WEF), EDB, McKinsey, Siemens and TUV SUD.
Figure 1 shows Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI). IT has 3 building blocks with 8 pillars and 16 dimensions. The 3 building blocks are Process, Technology and Organisation while the 8 pillars consist of Operations, supply chain, product lifecycle, automation, connectivity, intelligence, talent readiness and structure & management.

Figure 2 illustrates one of DF’s AMR models, Zalpha, which is equipped with an automated pallet jack transferring mechanism and towing clamp. In this case, customers use the Zalpha robot to automatically pick up and release pallet trucks between two locations within their factory. The robot is also connected to the internet, and through DFleet our fleet management system it enables seamless connectivity between robots and users. Users can monitor robot tasks in real time and collect operational data as the robot moves. This data can be visualized in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and other dashboards for better insights. Machine learning can also be applied for predictive analysis, forming the intelligence layer that enables the robot to make decisions with minimal human intervention.
Overall, SIRI is a powerful framework that supports manufacturers in initiating, sustaining, and scaling their Industry 4.0 journey. Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are among the key technologies that can be leveraged within the Technology block particularly in advancing automation, connectivity, and intelligence.
